Moss Rock Preserve is a lovely 250-acre nature preserve with a variety of trees and plants, as well as rock outcroppings, streams, waterfalls, wildlife, and other natural features. Gulf State Park in Gulf Shores, Alabama, is a dog-friendly park with 25 miles of asphalt walking and bicycling trails. The camp store has bicycles for rent. Dogs are permitted in most areas of the park if they are kept on a leash. For safety concerns, several bike and equestrian riding trails do not allow dogs. In stores, food service areas, bathhouses, pools, and swimming areas, dogs are not permitted. Dogs must not be left unsupervised, and if they are left in a heated car for more than 30 minutes, they will be confiscated.

Dogs are welcome on the bayside beach at Fort Morgan Historic Site. Owners must keep their dogs on a leash at all times and tidy up after them. Only the Mobile bayside beach, which stretches from the old Fort Morgan Pier to the Old Fisherman's Wharf, accepts dogs. Dogs are not permitted past the Old Fisherman's Wharf since it is a Federal Wildlife Area. The beach is located just before the Dauphin Island boat and before the fort's entrance.

On the public beach, dogs on a leash are welcome all year. The greatest area on Dauphin Island set aside for dogs and their owners to run and play on the sand and in the surf is the public beach near the Red School House and the old fishing pier. There are at least a few miles of beach there, and now that Sand Island has been joined to Dauphin Island, there are another three miles of unspoiled sand on that barrier island protruding out into the Gulf. Dogs are welcome at Dauphin Island's main public beach and the Dauphin Island Campground, but not at the West Extremity Beach Park on the island's far western end.
