Dog Park Locations

Pets are welcome at Grand River Drive-In, formerly Coyote Drive-In. While outside, they always welcome the animal members of your family on a leash. Food from The Snack Shack is available at the drive-in, as well as an off-leash dog park for your four-legged companions, a playground for the kids, a mini-golf course, and yard games. Relaxed attitudes and lawn chairs are encouraged.

Turkey Creek has five miles of hiking trails (both paved and unpaved) that wind up and down the level 1 whitewater beauty. Excellent swimming areas for Petzooie, but be aware that there is a tiny current, so small dogs should be closely monitored in case they become entangled in it.

Pets are welcome at Bamahenge. Artist Mark Cline has built a miniature copy of Stonehenge in Alabama, just up the trail from his Dinosaurs in the Woods. George Barber, a local tycoon, commissioned the artwork. He enjoys painting and has had a few pieces commissioned in the neighborhood. Be aware that this version of Stonehenge is built of fiberglass rather than stone, so be cautious when exploring.

Guntersville Dog Park is a dog park located in Tom Jackson Park near the lake in Guntersville. The park is located just behind the little league baseball grounds, off Sunset Drive. A nice walking track and a children's play area are both located near the dog park. There is a separate area for tiny dogs and a separate space for large dogs in the dog park.

Pets are welcome at Bass Pro Shops in Spanish Fort. Bring your dog along for some outdoor supplies shopping. Monday through Saturday, 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Bass Pro Shops is open.

Germania Springs Dog Park is a fenced dog park adjacent to the children's park and baseball fields of Germania Springs Park. Dogs can also enjoy an obstacle course and water in the dog park.

Petzooie to Desoto State Park in Fort Payne, AL, and together explore the more than 25 miles of dog-friendly trails. You and your pet will enjoy rock formations, seasonal waterfalls, breathtaking vistas of the west branch of Little River, abundant animal life, and various vegetation as you climb on Lookout Mountain. The trail difficulty varies from easy to challenging. Simply keep Petzooie leashed at all times. Dog-friendly cabins and campsites are available at Desoto State Park.

Most parks allow dogs as long as they are kept on a leash. For safety concerns, several bike and equestrian riding trails do not allow dogs. In stores, food service areas, bathhouses, pools, and swimming areas, dogs are not permitted. Dogs must not be left unsupervised, and if they are left in a heated car for more than 30 minutes, they will be confiscated.

This 1,327-acre park is a day-use, picnicking, and picturesque park with contemporary camping hook-ups for overnight visitors. It is located in the wetlands of Mobile Bay. Every angler will enjoy Meaher's boat ramp and fishing pier. A boardwalk providing an up-close view of the picturesque Mobile Delta is part of a self-guided stroll on two nature trails.

The 5 Rivers Delta Resource Center is at Spanish Fort, on the Mobile Bay Causeway (US Highway 90/98). The backside of the 5 Rivers Gift Shop may be seen from the Causeway. With an exposition hall, learning center, theater, gift shop, and welcome center, walking paths, picnic spots, conference center, and reception hall, the site is located where the Mobile, Spanish, Tensaw, Apalachee, and Blakeley rivers run into Mobile Bay. There are defined walking routes in front of the gift shop that indicate various plant and tree species. Perfect for a peaceful stroll through the woods with your dog.

The sites of Alabama's largest Civil War battle and other historic sites are preserved in this immaculate 2100-acre park. The Alabama Gulf Coastal Birding Trail and the Civil War Discovery Trail both pass through the park. On the 12 miles of trails, dogs must be on a leash.
