The beach that runs beneath the Douglas Family Preserve in the City of Santa Barbara is dog-friendly and off-leash; it starts east of the slough at Arroyo Burro Beach (locals call it Hendry's Beach) and stretches almost to the steps at Mesa Lane. The eastern limit is defined by fallen eucalyptus trees. From the Arroyo Burro parking lot, go to the beach, turn left, and bridge the slough to reach the off-leash legal area. Please keep your dog on a leash until you cross the slough, both in the parking lot and on the beach.

Coronado's Dog Beach is a dog-friendly, leash-free on the western portion of the beach in Coronado, CA. The area is indicated by signage that run down Ocean Blvd. from Sunset Park on Ocean Drive, to the boundary of the U.S. Naval Station. Parking is accessible along Ocean Boulevard, but it's a lengthy walk to the beach from there, so keep your dog on a leash until you get there. The Coronado Animal Patrol has a zero-tolerance policy for loose dogs, with fines of up to $500. Owners must keep a constant eye on their dogs and tidy up after them. Dogs must be up to date on their licensing and free of contagious diseases. Dogs and humans do not tolerate excessive barking or aggressive behavior.There will be no food or pet treats allowed. There are no restrooms, although there is a foot shower on Ocean Blvd. south of the entrance. At the entrance to the run, the city supplies free dog litter bags.
