The dog-friendly Woodland Trail in Big Bear, CA, is a 1.5-mile circle that gives a self-guided tour of this dry-woodland environment and is perfect for a family trek. The route begins about.2 miles west of Stanfield Cutoff on HWY 38. It is well designated and has lots of parking. Dogs must be on a leash. To access the amenities at the trailhead parking area, you'll need an Adventure Pass or an Interagency Pass.

The Rios (East) Trail in the San Elijo Ecological Reserve in Solana Beach, CA, is a dog-friendly, easy 1.2-mile hike that will take around 2 hours to accomplish with Petzooie. This route travels alongside the lagoon and allows visitors to see wetlands flora and wildlife. This lovely spot is still close to the highway, and it can be muddy in places.
