Dogs are welcome to explore around 300 acres as long as they remain leashed.

The San Fernando Road Bike Path is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization dedicated to building a statewide network of trails from abandoned rail lines and connecting corridors. This "rail-trail," which was once an abandoned railroad line, is now a terrific spot to walk Petzooie in Sylmar! Pets are welcome at Russian Gulch State Park. This park, which is two miles north of Mendocino, features a three-mile lush canyon, windswept headlands, and gorgeous beaches. West of Highway 1, dogs are allowed in the campground, beach, and trails. Fern Canyon Trail and trails east of Highway 1 are dog-free zones.
