Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization working to establish a countrywide network of trails from former rail lines and linking corridors, supports the Delta Meadows River Park (Locke), which is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by the group. This "rail-trail," which was once an abandoned railroad line, is now a terrific spot to walk Petzooie in Walnut Grove!

Willow Oaks is a grass-covered, enclosed dog park with a double-gate entrance. The space is shared by both large and tiny breeds. There is also a fenced-in children's play area and tennis courts in the park.

You're welcome to bring your leashed dog on the paths and around the grounds of this museum, farm, and attraction, which is one of only three "reliable" geysers in the world that routinely erupts every 15 to 30 minutes. The California Old Faithful Geyser is open every day of the week from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Mutt Lynch Winery welcomes dogs! Bring Petzooie to the Windsor tasting room to try Californian wines with canine-themed names like "Unleashed Chardonnay" and "Merlot Over and Play Dead." The Reserve label wines are even labeled with M.B.F., which stands for Man's Best Friend. A portion of every purchase is donated to local dog rescue organizations.

Will Rogers State Historic Park, which is home to the ranch owned by the famed actor of the 1930s, Will Rogers, allows dogs. The grounds also include guest housing, a stable, corrals, a riding ring, roping arena, polo field, golf course, and riding paths, in addition to the 31-room ranch house. Petzooie is welcome to visit this historic park with you, but they must be kept on a six-foot leash the entire time. Dogs are permitted in the historic zone and the Inspiration loop (but not on house tours). On the Backbone, Temescal, and Rustic Canyon Trails, dogs are not permitted.
