Dog Park Locations

Bannon Creek Dog Park in Sacramento, California, is a well-kept dog park with plenty of off-leash fun. A doggy water fountain, shaded spaces, seats, and garbage stations are among the park's features.

This fenced off-leash area, located in Moore Road Park, has distinct portions for large and small dogs, as well as benches and shade trees.

A trail goes along the cliff from the east to the west side of campus, offering stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, harbor, and beaches. A grassy area on the west side of campus attracts a large group of well-socialized dogs and their welcoming owners every Saturday morning and many weekday evenings.

If you're staying at one of West Beach's pet-friendly hotels, simply cross Castillo Street, go through the park, and up the hill toward City College (on the left of the tennis courts). Stay to the left and seek for the gardens that hug the cliffs, then proceed past the stadiums to the pedestrian bridge that connects the West Campus to the rest of the campus. The bridge leads to a large grassy area with a path on the left and (usually) a large number of friendly, lively dogs.

Bring Petzooie to Salvation Mountain in Niland, CA, a brightly painted hill that has become a landmark. Leashed dogs are welcome at this work of art in the desert. It's a terrific place to stop on your way to capture some nice Instagram pics of your dog.

Alpine Slide at Magic Mountain is a pet-friendly attraction in Big Bear Lake, California, including dog-friendly sections throughout the recreational area, including an eating area, and year-round activities for the whole family. Please notice that pets are not permitted on the slide. The price varies depending on the activity.

Van Sickle Bi-State Park welcomes dogs. Dogs and their owners can enjoy a variety of simple to moderate trails. Many of them lead to stunning views of North America's largest alpine lake and its surrounding peaks. The hours of operation for this park change depending on the season. Call ahead to be sure they'll be open when you arrive. Pedestrians can use the area from sunrise to sunset all year, and automobiles can use it from May 1 to October 31, sunrise to sunset. Pets are allowed, but they must be kept on a leash no more than six feet long and any mess must be cleaned up after them.

At Portola Redwoods State Park, dogs are permitted in campsites, picnic areas, paved roads, and the Upper and Lower Escape Roads. The park's trails, unfortunately, are not dog-friendly. Portola is the place to go if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of Silicon Valley and the South Bay Area. This 2,800-acre shady redwood forest is just down the road from some of California's busiest areas. The park is open from 6 a.m. to sunset every day of the week.
