Within the City of Hollister and the County of San Benito, animal control services are provided by the Animal Care & Service Bureau. The Animal Care & Service Bureau of the City of Hollister Police Department is in charge of impounding stray or lost animals, conducting cruelty investigations, controlling rabies, selling dog licenses, filing lost pet reports, providing 24-hour emergency services, enforcing local and state laws, running the animal shelter, running educational initiatives, and managing the animal adoption program.
