The High Desert Animal Shelter's current location is at 3050 S. In 1998, Cougar Way in Silver City, New Mexico, 88061, was finished. The total amount of living area for all the animals under our care is about 3,000 square feet. There are separate areas set aside for stray animals, animals in quarantine, and adoptable dogs, puppies, cats, and kittens. There are adjacent outdoor dog runs, as well as an outdoor cat run and an outdoor puppy run. A pet incinerator and a pet memorial garden are also on the property.

Our mission is to prevent animal cruelty, alleviate animal suffering, and broaden humane education. Our mission is guided by three community programs: Spay-Neuter, Spay-a-Stray, and Adopt-a-Pet Referral. Additionally, we are the owners and operators of Desert Haven Animal Refuge, a shelter for unwanted, neglected, and companion animals in Sierra County. Desert Haven Animal Refuge (DHAR) provides loving care for cats and dogs for the duration of their stay with us or until we are able to place them in a new loving and acceptable home.

8. Sierra County Animal Shelter

Our goal is to help Sierra County, New Mexico's lost, abused, neglected, and/or abandoned animals by offering financial, educational, and, if needed, physical support. a 501(c)(3) charitable organization that is non-profit.

Since 1999, Los Alamos Friends of Shelter and Companion Animals LAFOSCA (formerly Los Alamos Friends of the Shelter LAFOS) has funded our spay/neutering program, given foster homes for dogs and cats, and funded catastrophic animal medical treatment.

The Heart & Soul Animal Sanctuary was established by Natalie Owings in 1997 on a single acre in northern New Mexico. She started saving animals like dogs, cats, horses, llamas, goats, chickens, bunnies, and guinea pigs.
