Sierra County Animal Shelter

Our mission is to prevent animal cruelty, alleviate animal suffering, and broaden humane education. Our mission is guided by three community programs: Spay-Neuter, Spay-a-Stray, and Adopt-a-Pet Referral. Additionally, we are the owners and operators of Desert Haven Animal Refuge, a shelter for unwanted, neglected, and companion animals in Sierra County. Desert Haven Animal Refuge (DHAR) provides loving care for cats and dogs for the duration of their stay with us or until we are able to place them in a new loving and acceptable home.

We have indoor kennels, an adoption program, and a thrift store at the Village of Santa Clara Animal Shelter, which is located at the former fire department facility.

A 501(c)3 nonprofit No Kill Sanctuary that provides blind, deaf, and special needs puppies with lifelong care.

To find permanent, dependable homes for stray cats and dogs, care for them in a no-kill setting, and spread the word about humane values and conduct.

A joint powers agreement between the governing bodies of the City of Las Cruces (City) and Doa Ana County resulted in the establishment of the Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley (ASCMV) in August 2008. (County).

We are the first permanent cat-only adoption facility in Las Cruces. Cats of various ages, shapes, sizes, and colors can be found here.
