Animal Shelters

Sarge's initial task was to prevent animals in the Haywood County Animal Shelter from being put to death. By promoting the relationships between animals and their human partners, Sarge's Animal Rescue Foundation, Inc. seeks to further the original objective by aiming to reduce the number of stray dogs and cats in Haywood County as well as to enhance their wellbeing. In order to achieve this, we care for the animals in our Adoption Center while we look for their ideal homes and help local animal caregivers wherever we can.

The Fayetteville Animal Protection Society's goals are to decrease the number of stray animals, encourage ethical pet ownership, and offer a licensed, no-kill shelter for homeless animals until they are adopted into loving and caring lifetime environments.

The type of animal(s) involved, the type of neglect/abuse, and a full description of the property and/or owner information must all be provided to Animal Services.

The Dare County Animal Shelter is staffed and run by the Outer Banks SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals), a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, non-profit organization. The Dare County Animal Shelter has been helping animals in need in the Outer Banks region since 1978. The wellbeing of all animals, whether domestic, stray, or wild, is a priority for the refuge. The Outer Banks SPCA serves as a community resource for dogs and people who assist homeless and abandoned animals throughout our County as the sole animal shelter in Dare County.

"PetFinder" is a searchable online directory of pets in need of permanent homes. Almost 11,000 animal shelters and pet adoption organizations are listed in the listing as well. The goal is to raise the status of pets to that of a "family member" and to improve public awareness of the availability of adoption pets.

The goal of Wayne County Animal Services is to strike a balance between the needs of people and animals in our county in terms of health, safety, and welfare. Through our mission, we hope to: raise awareness of responsible pet ownership among the general public; aggressively look into allegations of animal cruelty; reunite lost pets with their owners; show compassion and humane treatment for unwanted, stray, abused, and abandoned pets in our County; and provide adoptable pets with a second chance at finding a forever home.

By encouraging more adoptions, promoting spay and neuter programs, and giving low-income pet owners access to our food pantry, the Humane Society of Davie County (HSDC) is dedicated to lowering the number of animals put to death in our neighborhood.

Beginning in 1997 in the garden of its founders, Toni and Ed Davis, Friends for Animals the Humane Society of Burke County eventually relocated to the adoption facility in 2003. One of the biggest no-kill shelters in Western North Carolina now exists thanks to the organization.
