Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization working to establish a countrywide network of trails from former rail lines and linking corridors, supports the Los Gatos Creek Trail, which is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by the group. This "rail-trail," which was once an underused railroad track, is now a terrific spot to walk Petzooie in Los Gatos! San Juan Loop Trail is a 2-mile simple, dog-friendly hike in Cleveland National Forest that takes around an hour with Petzooie to complete. This short walk offers stunning vistas and draws large groups. This is one of the most popular paths in the Santa Ana Mountains, and it is suited for individuals of all ages and abilities.

Alston Park in Napa, California, is a vast natural preserve with a fenced-in area where dogs can run free. The enclosed area includes agility equipment, a huge water pan with running water, and a double entry system to assure the safety of all dogs entering and exiting. For dogs under adequate voice control, a substantial chunk of the park is off leash. Dog waste bags, as well as several cans in which to dispose of the waste, are freely available. There is also a significant section of the park that is only open to leashed dogs.

This Yosemite National Park asphalt trailhead features a nice loop from Yosemite Valley's car park east to Camp Curry and Mirror Lake. On the first paved mile of the trail, leashed pets, cyclists, and strollers are permitted. Curry Village has plenty of parking.
