Dog owners who bring their pets to this off-leash dog park near Lake Merced in San Francisco, CA, should exercise additional caution because the park is located next to a highway with strong, high-speed traffic.

At Soule Park, the Mitchell Edelson Dog Park has two separate fenced-in play areas, one for large dogs and the other for small dogs weighing less than 20 pounds. The entrance to the enclosure is double-gated, preventing dogs inside the cage from fleeing when another dog enters. There are benches, old oak trees that provide shade, and water fountains for dogs.

This well-kept dog park is completely enclosed and features separate spaces for large and little dogs, as well as drinking stations.

Relax outside with Petzooie and a glass of wine created on site while taking in the ocean and panoramic views of San Diego County at Beach House Winery, a dog-friendly, award-winning winery in Oceanside, CA. Alternatively, have a seat at the bar in their lovely tasting area and enjoy the wines.

This boutique winery, located only blocks from the beach, offers high-quality wines while allowing your dogs to accompany you into the store. A couple additional wineries are located nearby. As a result, it's a terrific place to visit during your wine sampling days. Their wine was featured in Meryl Streep's film "It's Complicated."

On-leash pets are welcome at this Trinidad beach, which is also a fantastic place to watch the surfers.

The Mission Dolores Park Dog Park, located near San Francisco's Mission District and the Castro, includes an off-leash section that is popular with dog owners and their canine companions. The park is next to a subway station, which is convenient. The main park offers some of the city's most breathtaking views, and leashed dogs are welcome in the park's other parts.

This three-acre off-leash dog facility is located on Chanteloup Field and features a turf surface as well as trash bags. Please note that dogs are only allowed in this area on weekday mornings.

Skyline Drive Trailhead is a 10.9-mile path near Corona, California that is dog-friendly and open to hikers and bicyclists. The new entrance on West Foothill has a new housing complex that does not allow public parking, so this is the old entrance. On Foothill, there is street parking. The trail is open all year, and Petzooie must be on a leash at all times.
