Goyne Park's Chester Dog Park is pet-friendly. This dog park is a terrific spot to take Fido for some off-leash exercise. The first phase includes a small dog run and a 220-foot-long, eight-foot-wide walking route. A 80-foot release foyer is also available.

The Appomattox Riverwalk is a 1,736-foot wooden boardwalk that follows the Appomattox River's shoreline. With sweeping vistas of historic City Point, this new promenade invites visitors to immerse themselves in the beauty and nature of the Appomattox River.

If you don't have a boat, Old City Point Waterfront Park is the spot to go fishing. Because of its location near the junction of the James and Appomattox Rivers, fishing is permitted from the pier. If you merely want to spend an afternoon by the water, there are also picnic spaces and facilities. Open from sunrise to sunset.

This 1.2-acre dog park, was opened in 2015, is Hanover County's second dog park. Two water stations, six waste stations, a time-out cage, and seats are available in the dog park. Throughout the year, Pole Green Dog Park is open daily from sunrise to dark.
