Scotts Valley Bark Park is a fantastic area for you and your dog to spend some time together. There are two different sections, one for little or timid dogs and the other for large, extroverted dogs. For the dogs, there are plenty of toys, water dishes, and a play pool. It's in the Skypark Complex, near to a playground and soccer grounds (for your non-canine family members).

704. Modesto Virginia Corridor(Open segment)
Rails-to-Trails Conservancy is trying to establish a countrywide network of trails from former rail lines and linking corridors, and the Modesto Virginia Corridor (Open stretch) is one of 1600 rail-trails endorsed by the group. This "rail-trail," which was once an abandoned railroad line, is now a terrific spot to walk Petzooie in Modesto! The map below depicts a parking space with easy access to the Virginia Corridor in Modesto (Open segment).
707. Cuyamaca Rancho State Park
Some portions of Cuyamaca Rancho State Park near Julian, California, are dog-friendly. Dogs are not permitted on all trails, so keep an eye out for signs. On the campgrounds, picnic areas, paved roads, and Cuyamaca Peak Fire Road, pets are welcome. From spring until fall, the two family camps, Paso Picacho and Green Valley, can be rented. Green Valley is located at 4,000 feet above sea level and is bisected by a beautiful babbling creek. Petzooie must be kept on a leash at all times.

McCall Equestrian Campground is a dog-friendly, equestrian camping-only campground near Mountain Center, California, with an 88-acre mountain park dedicated solely to equestrian camping and trail riding. Several great routes lead through lofty pine forests, broad meadows, and past seasonal streams. Adults, children, pets, and horses must pay a day-use entrance fee.

This attractively designed off-leash dog park is for tiny dogs only (under 25 lbs). Grass, trees, picnic tables, chairs, and fresh water are all present.
710. Chantry Flats Hiking Trails
Pets on leashes are allowed on the trails of Chantry Flats, as well as at the Chantry Flats Picnic Area, which features 35 concrete picnic tables, charcoal grills, and restrooms. Before hitting the trails, make a pit stop at Adams' Pack Station, the last of its kind in the United States, which provides supplies year-round to an 80-cabin permanent community accessible only by footpath. The Pack Station also offers a General Store where you may get your Forest Service Adventure Passes, water, and trail mix before your trek, or come back later for soft drinks, ice cream, or an ice cold beer.
