682. Folsom Parkway Rail-Trail

Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization working to establish a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and linking corridors, supports the Folsom Parkway Rail-Trail, which is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by the organization. This "rail-trail," which was once an abandoned railroad line, is now a terrific spot to walk Petzooie in Folsom! A parking lot with easy access to the Folsom Parkway Rail-Trail is shown on the map below.

This enclosed, off-leash dog park is well-known for its welcoming atmosphere. There are different sections for small and large pets.

684. Bruno Canziani Dog Park

This enclosed dog park, located in a nice neighborhood with walking routes, is a terrific location for your pet to play off-leash. A area for tiny dogs and a segment for large dogs make up the 49,000-square-foot dog park. On bright days, there are a number of dog-friendly hiking routes and picnic sites located throughout the park.

Inside FROG Park is a 2.6-acre, fenced off-leash dog run. Outside of the dog run area, dogs must be leashed.

From 8 a.m. to 10 a.m., pets are permitted to play off-leash at the baseball field at Nealon Park.

687. Lower Sam Merrill Trail

The Lower Sam Merrill Trail is a multi-use trail in Altadena that is ideal for walking Petzooie. Three miles is the length of the trail. It runs from Lake Av and Loma Alta Dr to Echo Mtn Trail Junction.

This magnificent park with forests, meadows and farmlands, creeks, picnic spaces, and playgrounds has pathways for hikers and walkers of all levels. Off-leash pets are permitted if they are kept under strict voice control.

Dogs on leashes are welcome at China Camp State Park's campsite and day use picnic areas, which include the beach. Pets are not permitted on the trails at this state park, as they are in much of California. Aside from Petzooie, the area is home to a variety of intriguing species, including deer, squirrels, coyotes, foxes, bats, and a variety of birds. BBQs, picnic tables, a horseshoe toss area, and chemical toilets are available at the dog-friendly Miwok Meadows Picnic Area. From 8 a.m. to sunset, China Camp State Park is open.
