A massive pebble tech in-ground saltwater pool with two beach entry, a baja ledge, diving dock, and various water spouts can be found at Country Kennels Dawg Water Park in Murrieta, California. The area is completely fenced for the safety of your pets. The pool area also includes custom-built tunnels and hills for your dogs to run and play in, as well as sprinklers to keep their paws cool. The cost of pool time begins at $14 per dog. The Waterpark is open to the general public during certain hours and can also be booked for special events and private parties. The beach that runs beneath the Douglas Family Preserve in the City of Santa Barbara is dog-friendly and off-leash; it starts east of the slough at Arroyo Burro Beach (locals call it Hendry's Beach) and stretches almost to the steps at Mesa Lane. The eastern limit is defined by fallen eucalyptus trees. From the Arroyo Burro parking lot, go to the beach, turn left, and bridge the slough to reach the off-leash legal area. Please keep your dog on a leash until you cross the slough, both in the parking lot and on the beach.

The Original Dog Beach, located at the northern end of Ocean Beach in San Diego, CA, is perhaps the most popular canine hangout in the city. Dogs are allowed to roam free at any time of day. Pet owners should clean up after their animals. After a day at the beach, you might want to give Petzooie a bath at the Dog Beach Dog Wash. The Dog Wash, located at 4933 Voltaire Street, is only two streets from the beach.

Coronado's Dog Beach is a dog-friendly, leash-free on the western portion of the beach in Coronado, CA. The area is indicated by signage that run down Ocean Blvd. from Sunset Park on Ocean Drive, to the boundary of the U.S. Naval Station. Parking is accessible along Ocean Boulevard, but it's a lengthy walk to the beach from there, so keep your dog on a leash until you get there. The Coronado Animal Patrol has a zero-tolerance policy for loose dogs, with fines of up to $500. Owners must keep a constant eye on their dogs and tidy up after them. Dogs must be up to date on their licensing and free of contagious diseases. Dogs and humans do not tolerate excessive barking or aggressive behavior.There will be no food or pet treats allowed. There are no restrooms, although there is a foot shower on Ocean Blvd. south of the entrance. At the entrance to the run, the city supplies free dog litter bags.

The majority of this big sandy island in Mission Bay is off-leash for dogs. The sandy dunes at Fiesta Island Off-Leash Dog Park are great for romping, while the calm bay waters allow more adventurous dogs to take a little plunge. Sea World will be on your left, fenced-in front with signs, and there is a dedicated off-leash area on the backside of the island. Water should be brought for your dogs.

Your dog is invited to accompany you on your journey through Westridge-Canyonback Wilderness Park, which offers breathtaking views of downtown and the coast. Many of the paths have mutt mitts available. Hikers, mountain bikers, and equestrians can use the Westridge fire road to access trails along the north-south ridgeline. The park is connected to the "Big Wild," a 20,000-acre urban wilderness park. San Vincente Mountain Park in the San Fernando Valley and the end of Westridge Road in West Los Angeles provide access to the park.
