Animal Shelters

For the purpose of rescuing abandoned and unwanted dogs and cats, the Save Our Strays (S.O.S.) Animal Shelter was established in 1981. In 1987, after six years of arduous volunteer effort and financial support from private citizens and companies, we were able to open our no-kill shelter. As a private, 501(c)(3) non-profit, all of our funding comes from donations and fundraising.

The Humane Society of West Alabama is a nonprofit, no-kill organization that was established in 1971. Since we have no overhead expenses, the majority of the money we raise goes directly toward helping the dogs and cats in our care. We receive no funding from any national humanitarian group or governmental body. To keep doing our job, we rely on donations and fundraisers.

Our goal is to save injured, stray, and abandoned kittens and cats. We provide the kitties a thorough vetting in a secure and caring setting. Adopting one of our kitties into a loving home is possible.

We are a no-kill animal shelter with private funding. We don't get any government funding or grants from the HSUS; we exclusively get funding from supporters. All of the animals in our care have undergone a thorough examination, which includes spaying or neutering, immunizations, illness tests (for heartworm and feline leukemia/HIV), a microchip, and any other necessary care.

The WHS is a nonprofit organization that provides public services with a focus on reducing animal suffering. All of the WHS's work is done by volunteers, with the exception of the staff members of our shelter. Since we do not receive any financing from the federal, state, or municipal governments, we must only rely on the kind gifts of our neighbors.

We are a charity that provides aid to animals in need. The county of Barbour and its environs are served by us.

Our goal is to find permanent homes for the stray, abandoned, and owner-returned animals in our community, set the bar for responsible pet ownership, and inform the public about the advantages of having their animals spayed or neutered. We gladly promote our organization by taking part in local events since we are involved in our community.

The Montgomery Humane Society runs an animal shelter for unwanted, abandoned, and homeless animals in order to stop cruelty to animals.

The Chattahoochee Humane Society's mission is to improve the lives of companion animals through initiatives to stop animal cruelty, encourage responsible pet ownership, and lessen the number of strays by promoting companion animal spaying and neutering. It also offers shelter to stray animals in the Chambers County region.
