Sylacauga Animal Shelter is dedicated to rescuing, caring for, and rehoming homeless and abandoned animals in our community. Our shelter provides a safe space for animals to receive medical care, nourishment, and socialization while they await adoption into loving homes. We also work to raise awareness about responsible pet ownership and the importance of spaying and neutering to reduce animal overpopulation. In the rural area of Bibb County, Brent, Alabama, we try to locate homes for or rescue for animals (near Tuscaloosa).

2018 saw a collaboration between the Greater Birmingham Humane Society and the Jasper Animal Care & Control Shelter. Mayor O'Mary acknowledged their accomplishments in a press release from 2020, saying, "As of today we are lucky to be the only non-Birmingham shelter that the Greater Birmingham Humane Society operates. The partnership has been a win-win situation." The Mayor continued, "I am now very proud of our animal care, our shelter, and the people that are working to take care of the animals."
