Until they are adopted, the Alaska Humane Society provides them with housing, food, and any necessary medical treatment. Every cat that is not adopted remains our property for their whole lifespan. We operate a no-kill facility.

A tax-exempt, nonprofit organization, the Ketchikan Humane Society is committed to giving mistreated, neglected, and abandoned animals a second opportunity in a caring permanent home. Our group is entirely volunteer-run. We have private foster homes for all of our animals.

Our group was given a contract by the City of Kodiak to run the Kodiak Animal Shelter in 1995, and with the help of the locals, it was transformed into a "No Kill" shelter for lovable, adoptable animals in 1997.
