ALPHA Canine Sanctuary offers homeless dogs a no-kill shelter. The 1995-opened 20-acre ranch is tucked away in the Californian foothills above Bakersfield. An expansive view of the mountains may be seen to the east. Dogs will receive round-the-clock attention and security because caregivers reside on-site. They, the workers and volunteers, give daily care and love.

In order to end the suffering of unwanted cats and kittens, The Cat People was established as a nonprofit in 1990. To assist the abandoned cats and kittens in Hart Park in Kern County, a group of women started working together more than 20 years ago.

We accomplish this by developing community programs and partnerships across the entire state of California, which aid in stopping the killing of animals in animal shelters.
