Dog Park Locations

The Duarte Recreational Trail is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization dedicated to building a statewide network of trails from abandoned rail lines and connecting corridors. This "rail-trail," which was once an abandoned railroad line, is now a terrific spot to walk Petzooie in Duarte! The trailhead for the Duarte Recreational Trail is shown on the map below.

Pets are welcome at Huntington Harbor Boat Rentals. This is an excellent spot to rent duffy boats, stand-up paddle boards, and kayaks in OC, and it's conveniently located in Sunset Beach. On a handful of their rentals, leashed dogs are permitted.

Pogonip Open Space allows leashed dogs to explore certain areas. There are roughly eleven and a half miles of trails at Pogonip. Dogs are not permitted on all routes due to the presence of sensitive habitats on others. Dog owners must clean up after their pets and keep them leashed in dog-friendly locations. Check out the trail map on Pogonip's official website for details on where Petzooie is allowed. Pogonip is open from sunrise to 7pm from April to October, and from sunrise to 4pm from November to March.

Heilmann Dog Park in Atascadero, California, is a big off-leash dog park where Petzooie can run, play, and meet new friends.

Islander Park Circular is a dog-friendly, easy.07-mile loop path in Riverside, California, that runs through the foothills of the Box Springs Mountains. It's a low-key dirt route that's suitable for walking and running, and dogs are welcome on-leash.

Bring your dog to this public park's upper field for some off-leash fun. From November to March, the museum is closed.

The dog-friendly Electric Dusk Drive-In evokes cherished recollections of a bygone age by allowing visitors to enjoy a silver screen classic with Tinseltown looming in the horizon. Relax in your vehicle or spread out on the Astroturf lawn with a blanket. Popcorn, Coke, and other movie snacks can be purchased at The Snack Shack. Dogs on leashes are welcome to join in the moviegoing fun. Parking for cars costs $15, and per person fees range from $8 to $12.

Alta Vicente Reserve is a 55-acre parcel of property located on the slopes below and around Rancho Palos Verdes City Hall, with spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean to the north and Oceanfront Estates to the south. It is the present site of a 15-acre coastal sage scrub habitat restoration project, which began in 2008.
