Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization working to establish a countrywide network of trails from former rail lines and linking corridors, supports the Ojai Valley Trail, which is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by the group. This "rail-trail," which was once an abandoned railroad line, is now a terrific spot to walk Petzooie in Ventura! A parking lot with easy access to the Ojai Valley Trail is shown on the map below.

Pets are welcome to accompany you for a modest fee at this public park with clean facilities and restaurants, as long as they remain on a leash.

Big Bear Lake's Bark Park is pet-friendly. A number of agility things, as well as a bench for humans to sit on while their dogs play together, can be found in this popular entertainment area. Dogs can go through a tunnel, investigate a metal dog silhouette, and play fetch on the grass. Dog owners are advised to pick up any mess left behind by their pets while enjoying the park.

The 14.5-mile Ontario Peak Trail in Angeles National Forest is exceedingly challenging, but dog-friendly, and will take about 7 hours to finish with Petzooie. Despite the fact that Icehouse Canyon is a popular tourist destination, the trail is so arduous that once you're on your way, you'll be surrounded by other outdoor enthusiasts. The Canyon is well-known for its convenient access to scenic streams, ruins, and woodlands. The trail is best used from May to November and is mostly used for hiking, running, snowshoeing, and backpacking.

At R.A.M. Farms Pumpkin Patch, dogs are encouraged to join in the excitement of picking out a pumpkin or meandering through the corn maze. Simply keep Petzooie on a leash at all times and clean up after him.

You and Petzooie can try to beat the heat in Death Valley National Park in California, the country's "hottest, driest, and lowest" location. In campgrounds and picnic areas, dogs are welcome. They must be kept on a six-foot leash at all times. Pets are not allowed on trails or in Wilderness (this includes the boardwalks at Badwater and Salt Creek, as well as paved paths like Zabriskie Point and Harmony Borax Works). Pets are not permitted in park facilities, including visitor centers and historic structures, or on Ranger-led tours. Coyotes are known to wander the park, so keep an eye on your dogs. On the asphalt portions at Huntington State Beach, dogs are welcome. Petzooie won't be able to join you on the sand at this popular beach, but there are a few concrete bike routes and trails where Petzooie can get some much-needed exercise. The beach is 121 acres in size, and the main dog-friendly route runs along a portion of it, with a distant view of the sea. Huntington Dog Beach is just down the road for dogs that want to feel the sand under their paws.
