The 2,400-square-foot Welcome Center, located at 600 Main Street along the Riverfront in Downtown Napa, is the ideal beginning place for new and returning visitors to the Napa Valley.

The new Welcome Center, which serves as the official source for destination information, combines high-tech and traditional resources to give visitors an introduction to the Napa Valley touring experience by artfully combining gracious hospitality with easy access to fun and interactive digital information tools.

402. Balboa Island Ferry

Between Balboa Island and the Balboa Peninsula in Newport Beach, the dog-friendly Historic Balboa Island Ferry provides continuous service for drivers and passengers in vehicles, bikes, pedestrians, and dogs. The distance between the crossings is around 800 feet. An alternate route can be taken through bridges, however the travel distance will increase by up to six miles. Many people like the ferry because of its direct route and scenic trip.

MacKerricher State Park allows dogs on a leash. Pets are not allowed on Virgin Creek Beach, Ten Mile Beach's northern half, the Seal Rocks harbor seal pup nursery area, or the Surfwood Walk-In campground. In most other parts of the park, you should be able to find Petzooie. Camping for a few nights is one of the most popular activities. The campgrounds are brimming with magnificent wild gardens, some of which look out over the water. You should check with MacKerricher State Park to see whether they are open on the days you want to go.

Tractor Supply Co. not only has the largest selection of dog supplies in town, but they also allow you to bring your leashed dog in.

At Bass Pro Shops, dogs are permitted to shop alongside their owners. There are items for fishing, camping, boating, hunting, dog training, and other outdoor activities available.

Clayton Dog Park is a small park with benches, trees, water, and picnic tables.

407. Lake Mendocino Recreation Area

Dog-friendly Lake Mendocino is a man-made lake located north-east of Ukiah, California, built by a dam over the Russian River coming out of the Potter Valley. There are 300 campsites in the area, including boat-in camping, as well as 15 miles of hiking and bike trails. Be aware that some of the paths are located within a 700-acre wilderness area, so keep an eye out for wildlife. Barbeques and covered picnic shelters are also available. At all times, Petzooie must be leashed.

Ed Z'berg Sugar Pine Point State Park allows dogs on paved areas, campgrounds, and historic zone day use areas. Nearly two miles of lake frontage and deep forests of pine, fir, aspen, and juniper may be found in this park. Unfortunately, Petzooie is not permitted on the park's beaches, dirt pathways, or undeveloped areas. If you want to know when the park is open, you should call the park administration directly.

Elizabeth Spencer's wines are lovely, and the tasting area is tiny and pet-friendly, with individual "tasting cottages" and outdoor tastings available. Sunday through Saturday, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., visitors are welcome. By request only, private tastings, evening tastings, and reservations for outdoor tables are available.

410. Sir Francis Drake Bikeway

Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization working to establish a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and linking corridors, supports the Sir Francis Drake Bikeway, which is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by the group. This "rail-trail," which was once an abandoned railroad line, is now a terrific spot to walk Petzooie in Nicasio! A parking lot with easy access to the Sir Francis Drake Bikeway is shown on the map below.
