Cayucos Beach welcomes pets. At this Cayucos beach, leashed dogs are free to play in the sand as long as they are well-behaved and clean up after themselves. If you plan on spending the day at the beach with your dog, please be considerate to other beachgoers.

This one-acre park, located at the intersection of Felspar and Soledad Mountain Roads, features two gated pens with turfed sections. The first is for tiny dogs, while the second is for large dogs. Water for dogs, a drinking fountain, picnic tables and seats, and a parking area are all available at both locations.

Many of the attractions at Balboa Park, one of the country's largest urban parks with over 1000 acres, are dog-friendly. The park, which is located in San Diego, features several open areas, gardens, and walking routes, as well as the San Diego Zoo, museums, and theaters. Dogs can also explore two approved off-leash areas: Balboa Dr near El Prado on the south side of Cabrillo Bridge and Morley Field northwest of the tennis courts. Dogs must be leashed at all times when not in a designated off-leash area, and humans must pick up after their dogs throughout the park and off-leash areas.

Dogs are allowed on leash at Carmel River State Beach in Carmel, CA, which has a mile-long beach and a lagoon with a bird sanctuary. Scuba divers frequent Monastery Beach, also known as San Jose Creek Beach, which is part of the park. Swimmers must use caution in the water, which can turn choppy and dangerous.
