1. Samuel P. Taylor State Park

Certain portions of Samuel P. Taylor State Park are dog-friendly. This state park's lone dog-friendly trail is the Cross Marin Trail cycling path. It follows the historic North Pacific Coast Railroad right-of-way into the Golden Gate National Recreation Area for about three miles along Lagunitas Creek. Some campgrounds in the region allow you to camp amid the redwoods. Samuel P. Taylor State Park is open from 8 a.m. to sunset every day of the week.

2. Sir Francis Drake Bikeway

Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization working to establish a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and linking corridors, supports the Sir Francis Drake Bikeway, which is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by the group. This "rail-trail," which was once an abandoned railroad line, is now a terrific spot to walk Petzooie in Lagunitas! A parking lot with easy access to the Sir Francis Drake Bikeway is shown on the map below.
