3752. Humane Society of South Central Michigan

At the Humane Society of South Central Michigan, we support second chances. All of Calhoun County, as well as portions of Kalamazoo, Barry, and Branch counties, are included in our service area. After passing temperament testing and being given a health checkup, we retain animals for as long as it takes to find them a loving home for adoption. Every day of the year, the Watkins Road shelter provides care for up to 100 animals. Each year, the Society's programs for animal care, adoption, and education are utilized by several locals.

We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit, NO-KILL animal shelter and rescue that was established in 1982. We also provide dog training at our facilities and provide a food pantry for pet owners who can no longer afford to feed their animals.

The sole open admission shelter in Muskegon County is called Pound Buddies. This means that regardless of age, breed, temperament, or state of health, we take all dogs that have been misplaced, abandoned, mistreated, or neglected.

The mission of the Almost Home Animal Shelter is to  finding loving caregivers who will offer them a permanent home while fostering unwanted or abandoned pets.  Being an advocate for the local pet population in the neighborhood.

A 501(c)3 private, non-profit organization devoted to providing immediate treatment for the animals of Delta County is the Delta Animal Shelter. The County Sheriff's Office ran this shelter until August 2011, when budget shortages made it necessary to permanently close the facility. The Delta Area Animal Society, a group of animal enthusiasts, took over the business to stop it from closing permanently.

Mystie Beckwith, an animal lover and cat aficionado, launched Karma Kat Cafe in 2018. Over 900 cats have been saved by Karma Kat since it was founded, and counting!
