Animal Shelters

A small group of individuals with great hearts but tight budgets started the Humane Society of Middletown in 1959. We are a privately run animal shelter whose ONLY source of funding is the kindness of our patrons.

A 501(c)3 non-profit, no-kill organization, SPCA Westchester is committed to saving homeless, neglected, and abandoned animals as well as preventing animal abuse and neglect through public awareness campaigns and the enforcing of humane laws.

Adopt-A-Dog achieves this objective by giving dogs in need the best care possible with an emphasis on making sure that all facets of their general health and wellbeing are taken care of. Our goal is to build a neighborhood where every dog has a home.

We help homeless dogs and cats find permanent homes as well as free emergency boarding and veterinary treatment for pet owners in need. Pets are family, and we support maintaining intact families.

ARF is a federal 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that is 100% volunteer-run and a NO KILL animal shelter. The people that volunteer here do it because they care deeply about animals and want to make their lives better.

The mission of Bella Bast Rescue, Inc. is to rescue, help, and care for cats that are unwanted, abused, neglected, or in need. Our adoption center is located in West Babylon at The Animal Pantry, 620 Sunrise Highway. Some of our lucky cat rescues are there, awaiting their future homes.

Lillie Goodrich and John Andersen founded Glen Highland in January 2001. It is a 501c3 non-profit organization. For Border Collies older than 10, Glen Highland conducts a sanctuary and adoption program. A

All laws pertaining to the animal population in the township are upheld by Vernon Township Animal Control. It is in charge of enforcing animal ordinances, preventing the spread of rabies, capturing sick or injured animals, holding lost pets, quarantines, dog bites, and adoption. Additionally, it runs rabies clinics, issues dog licenses, and manages the animal shelter. The Vernon Township Police Department keeps staff on call around-the-clock for emergencies including animal attacks, sick or injured stray animals, bats discovered inside the house, and injured or ill animals.

The Chautauqua County Humane Society, SPCA's aim is to enhance and save lives through compassionate treatment, support for animals, and dedication to the neighborhood.
