The Dog Run Park at Carlyle, which opened in 2009, includes a separate area for little and large dogs to keep the little ones happy and safe. Aside from the doggie paradise, this enclosed roughly three-acre park features other facilities. It has become a favorite hangout for people who enjoy their dogs and the outdoors because it is well-kept and manicured.

There are many picnic tables inside and several benches outside two huge gated areas (not dog-size specific). There isn't much shade, but lots of room for dogs to run. Water containers were given instead of a water tap. Off Old Brook Road and Azalea Avenue, beside Henderson Middle School, is the Henderson Sports Complex. Turn off Old Brook near the Northside YMCA building and drive about 1/4 mile to the parking lot.

Vint Hill Dog Park is a 1.25-acre fenced-in dog park. The Vint Hill neighborhood near the corner of Aiken Drive and Kennedy Road is partially wooded.

Parking is available right adjacent to the park off Aiken Drive, as well as across Kennedy Boulevard.

190. Virginia Creeper Abingdon Terminus

The Virginia Creeper National Recreation Trail is a 34.3-mile rail-to-trail that runs from Abingdon, Virginia, via Damascus, and ends near Whitetop Station in the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area on the Virginia-North Carolina border. The Creeper Trail has been recognized as one of the country's best rail-trails for 34 years, having been inducted into the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy's Hall of Fame in 2014 and receiving several local, regional, and national awards.
