1461. 17-Mile Drive
On the 17-Mile Drive from Pacific Grove to Pebble Beach, bring your canine partner along for the adventure. The 17-Mile Drive is a prominent coastal landmark that allows visitors to visit legendary, pet-friendly locations while taking in the stunning surroundings. The Lone Cypress, Cypress Point Lookout, Spanish Bay, and Carmel Bay are just a few of the well-known attractions along this toll route. From sunrise to sunset, the gates are open to the public. Motorcycles are not allowed. You will receive an useful brochure explaining the many scenic and historic sites of interest along the route when you pay your entry fee at any of the five entry gates into Pebble Beach, which also serves as a great souvenir.

San Diego's first dog bakery, The Original Paw Pleasers, offers a full variety of fresh baked, preservative-free goodies, including a grain-free line. Do you have a birthday coming up? In southeast Carmel, Mission Trail Park has 35 acres of paths. You may take a wonderful little walk down to the Carmel Mission Basilica if you enter the trail system via Mountain View Avenue (where it changes into Forest Road). You can also access the park via Rio Road, which is just across from the mission.
1464. Mount Hollywood Trail at Griffith Park
Mount Hollywood Trail is a 3-mile easy hike in Griffith Park that takes about 1.5 hours with Petzooie to complete. The city owns this area of the mountain, which gives some of the best views of the Hollywood sign and the Los Angeles Basin. You'll also like the landscape as you gaze out over the San Gabriels or out to sea. Just remember to keep Petzooie on a leash and clean up any pet messes during the hike. The Griffith Observatory or the Ferndell Route in Los Feliz are both good places to park to access the trail.

Garland Ranch Regional Park in Carmel, California, is a beautiful park with the Carmel River running through it. Dogs are allowed off-leash in some areas, such as the river and certain paths (not the horse trails). The trails wind across broad oak savannas and beautiful panoramas atop the Santa Lucia Mountains' northern crest. You'll pass through maple-filled canyons, dense oak woodlands, and thick chaparral along the trip. There are trails for hikers of all levels, from beginners to experts. Trail maps are available at the visitor center of the park. The park is open from sunrise to sunset.

Fort Funston, located just off Skyline Blvd, is one of the nicest spots in San Francisco to take your dog for a day of fun. There's plenty of room for Petzooie to run about and play, as well as various dog-friendly pathways and beach areas. In the Bank Swallow habitat regions, dogs must be kept on a leash. Keep a look out for gated or signposted dog-free areas, and keep in mind that the Coastal Trail north of the Horse Trail crossing is closed due to erosion.

At the dog-friendly Seabright Beach in Santa Cruz, CA, leashed dogs are permitted, and free parking is provided in the neighboring communities. On the east end of the beach, there are restrooms and outdoor showers.
1468. Kiva Beach
At this great dog-friendly beach, pets are welcome on a leash. Dogs on leash are allowed east of Tallac Point (an El Dorado Country ordinance). Dogs are not allowed on the federally protected wetlands west of Tallac Point (where the Lake of the Sky route ends) for the protection of wildlife in this delicate environment.

Seaport Village, a 14-acre waterfront shopping, dining, and entertainment complex in San Diego, CA, is dog-friendly and recreates a harbor side scene from a century ago. There are 54 unique stores, 13 casual eating restaurants, and four fine dining waterfront restaurants, all of which are adjacent to local hotels. There are numerous pet-friendly eateries with views of the bay. A huge park with plenty of grass and space for dogs to run is also available.
