Dog Park Locations

Canines and their companions can enjoy a luxurious tour of San Luis Obispo Wine Country with Breakaway Tours. The dog-friendly tour group picks up dog owners and their leashed pets from their local lodging and transports them to four dog-friendly wineries of their choosing in private, air-conditioned automobiles! Owners can add a winery picnic lunch to their trip, complete with Scooby Snacks. Rates start at $350 per night, including a cleaning fee for pets.

On the dog-friendly outdoor terrace at Saucelito Canyon Vineyards, enjoy cheese, crackers, meats, chocolate, and great wine. Wines produced in a dry-farmed vineyard.

Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization working to establish a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and linking corridors, supports the Railroad Safety Trail, which is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by the group. This "rail-trail," which was once an abandoned railroad line, is now a terrific spot to walk Petzooie in San Luis Obispo! The trailhead for the Railroad Safety Trail is shown on the map below.

Sunset Drive-In in San Luis Obispo, California, will provide you with a nostalgic experience as well as a great evening out at an old-fashioned drive-in theater. Petzooie is welcome as long as he is peaceful and does not bark on a regular basis.

At Avila Valley Barn in San Luis Obispo, CA, well-behaved leashed dogs are welcome to join their owners in the outdoor areas and picnic tables. This popular venue is a terrific place to stop and buy fresh food, including excellent locally grown fruit and veggies. On the drive to Avila Beach, you and your dog can pick up a pie or bakery delicacy to munch on the picnic tables, or stop for ice cream. There are hayrides, farm animals, and even the opportunity to pick your own fruit. You'll also discover a pet waste station on the grounds if Petzooie makes a mess.

Before hopping on the 2.5-mile Bob Jones City to the Sea Trail (which starts right behind the farm) in San Luis Obispo, CA, pick up a delicious picnic lunch from the Avila Valley Barn. The paved, dog-friendly trail winds its way through the Avila Valley, following a beautiful stream all the way to Avila Beach. Walking a half mile past the trail's official end along the fairly narrow bike line on Avila Beach Drive can take you to one of the town's two off-leash dog beaches (Olde Port Beach or Fisherman's Beach).

With a playground, sand volleyball, BBQs, and migratory birds, this lakefront site is ideal for boating and fishing.

The El Chorro Dog Park on Dairy Creek Road is part of El Chorro Regional Park and offers a completely enclosed off-leash park with separate spaces for large and small dogs, as well as water spigots and splash baths. A day use area with barbeque facilities, a botanical garden, and various hiking routes are also part of the Regional Park.
