Sunset Cliffs Natural Park is a dog-friendly park in San Diego, California, with a network of hiking paths and climbing cliffs. It's one of the country's most magnificent sunset sites. The park is free to use and encourages leashed dogs. Dog owners are advised to clean up any messes that may have been left behind and to keep their pets under control throughout their visit.

Quartyard is a dog-friendly urban park and event venue in Downtown San Diego's East Village neighborhood made of repurposed shipping containers. There's an off-leash dog run, a beer garden, a restaurant, and an outdoor stage at the site.

Cowles Mountain Trail at Mission Trails Regional Park is a dog-friendly, moderately easy 3-mile hike that takes around 2 hours to accomplish with Petzooie. Within the city limits of San Diego, Cowles Mountain is the highest peak you can reach. There are plans in the works to expand the area's trail system.

The Bayshore Bikeway (Silver Strand Bikeway) is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a charity dedicated to building a statewide network of trails from abandoned rail lines and connecting corridors.
