1. Iron Horse Regional Trail

Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization working to establish a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and linking corridors, supports the Iron Horse Regional Trail, which is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by the group. This "rail-trail," which was once an abandoned railroad line, is now a terrific spot to walk Petzooie in Danville! A parking lot with easy access to the Iron Horse Regional Trail is shown on the map below.

Pets are welcome to run and play off-leash in the undeveloped portions of this lovely Danville park; however, the park is not gated, so exercise caution. On the pathways and ball fields, dogs are not permitted.

This family-friendly park features a play area and a sand pit for building castles, so bring your leashed pet for a quiet afternoon. The excellent dog park is divided into two huge enclosed areas with plenty of grass, seating spots, and some shade.
