The Appomattox Riverwalk is a 1,736-foot wooden boardwalk that follows the Appomattox River's shoreline. With sweeping vistas of historic City Point, this new promenade invites visitors to immerse themselves in the beauty and nature of the Appomattox River.

If you don't have a boat, Old City Point Waterfront Park is the spot to go fishing. Because of its location near the junction of the James and Appomattox Rivers, fishing is permitted from the pier. If you merely want to spend an afternoon by the water, there are also picnic spaces and facilities. Open from sunrise to sunset.

This enclosed dog park provides a safe environment for dogs to mingle and run off-leash. The park is rarely busy, giving your pet lots of freedom to run about. There is also shade to sit in and benches for pet owners.

This 1.2-acre dog park, was opened in 2015, is Hanover County's second dog park. Two water stations, six waste stations, a time-out cage, and seats are available in the dog park. Throughout the year, Pole Green Dog Park is open daily from sunrise to dark.

On the corner of Kenmore Avenue and Mary Ball Street is Memorial Recreation Park (commonly known as Kenmore). The park has seven tennis courts, six of which are lit from twilight to 10 p.m. every year. The park also has four additional pickleball courts, giving players a total of five dedicated courts to select from. A basketball hoop, tennis practice wall, open play area, children's play equipment, and a toddler play area are all available at the park. Daily hours are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m.
