Harding Lake State Recreation Area, 45 miles south of Fairbanks on the Richardson Highway, was founded in 1967 and is one of the oldest park facilities in the Alaska State Park system. There are more than 90 campsites in all, including five walk-in group campsites.There are also several picnic areas and two picnic shelters in the park. In addition, spaces for baseball, volleyball, and horseshoes have been set aside, with equipment available at the ranger station. Another activity offered at Harding Lake SRA is hiking along nature trails.

Rainbow trout, king and silver salmon, grayling, and arctic char are among the supplied species that provide good fishing throughout the year.
