Harding Lake State Recreation Area, 45 miles south of Fairbanks on the Richardson Highway, was founded in 1967 and is one of the oldest park facilities in the Alaska State Park system. There are more than 90 campsites in all, including five walk-in group campsites.There are also several picnic areas and two picnic shelters in the park. In addition, spaces for baseball, volleyball, and horseshoes have been set aside, with equipment available at the ranger station. Another activity offered at Harding Lake SRA is hiking along nature trails.

In the summer, fishermen, jet skiers, and water skiers frequent the lake, while in the winter, snowmachiners and ice fishermen frequent it. Rainbow trout, king and silver salmon, grayling, and arctic char are among the supplied species that provide good fishing throughout the year.

This holiday-themed village, located 20 minutes from Fairbanks, lets you and your dog to roam the grounds outside. Although dogs are not permitted inside, don't miss the photo opportunities with the Christmas-themed building, Santa's sled, and the 42-foot-tall World's Largest Santa! The front of the building is decorated with murals and interesting display windows, and next door to St. Nick's workshop is Antler Academy, where your fur child can get a good look at the resident reindeer from a safe distance. There is no charge to visit this winter wonderland.

The North Pole Dog Park is a combination of two dog parks. A large gated area near to 3rd Avenue is open to all dogs, while a smaller walled area at the park's back is for smaller dogs who are not comfortable among large dogs. Waste collection facilities and picnic tables for dog owners are included at the dog park to maintain it tidy.

Fairbanks Dog Park is the place to go for off-leash fun in Fairbanks, with plenty of area for dogs to run. The park has a total of 20 acres (including 10 acres of natural area), a half-mile of walking trails, two fenced play areas, and a fenced grass for training, demonstrations, and events.

Highway passengers and weekend campers from Fairbanks frequent the Upper Chatanika State Recreation Site, which is located at mile 39 on the Steese Highway. There are 24 campsites, four picnic areas, drinking water, and latrines on the property.A gravel bar is accessible through a road where people can camp, eat, sunbathe, or fish. Canoeists and rafters launch their boats here for an all-day float down the Chatanika River, which ends at the Lower Chatanika State Recreational Area, which is located at mile 11 on the Elliott Highway.
