Sunrise Park was designed in 1991-1992 in collaboration with the park's neighbors and the Westside Neighborhood Association. In 1995, the park was dedicated and opened. Sunrise Park is home to one of two City of Olympia Parks Community Gardens. The garden was first developed in 2007 in collaboration with GRuB, Together! , as well as the USDA. In 2011, City of Olympia Parks, Arts and Recreation took over management of the Sunrise Community Garden from GRuB and constructed 55 upgraded garden plots and a state of the art compost structure, a covered seating area and new tool shed. In March of 2012, the new Sunrise Community Garden was completed. Brand new playground was installed at the park in 2015.
