For more experienced hikers, the Sunrise Peak Trail in Scottsdale, Arizona is an excellent option. It's a four-mile in-and-out trail with a 1,100-foot elevation difference. The trail is steep and rocky, and it is almost all upward, but once you reach the summit, you will be rewarded with spectacular views of the McDowell Mountains and the surrounding granite formations. Because of its difficulties, this trail is less busy than others in the area. The trailhead has free parking and a water fountain, but no restrooms. Make sure you have plenty of water for both you and Fido. All dogs must be kept on a leash.

132. Mohave and Milltown Railroad Trails

Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization working to establish a countrywide network of trails from former rail lines and linking corridors, supports the Mohave and Milltown Railroad Trails, which is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by the group. This "rail-trail," which was once an underused railroad line, is now a terrific spot to walk Fido in Bullhead City! Pets are welcome at Montezuma Castle National Monument. Dogs are welcome on the paths at both Montezuma Castle and Montezuma. Do not leave a dog inside a car due to the severe temperatures during the summer months. Temperatures inside a locked automobile can reach over 140 degrees even with the windows opened down modestly. While you're here, make sure Fido signs up to be a Bark Ranger!

At all times, dogs must be kept on a leash that is less than six feet long and under control. All mess must be cleaned up after in order to maintain the cleanliness of the space. The Montezuma Castle National Monument is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. every day of the week.

While dogs are not permitted inside the historic Douglas Mansion, which is the park's centerpiece, they are invited to accompany their owners on a stroll about the grounds. Just remember to keep your dog on a leash at all times.

Buckskin Mountain State Park in Parker, Arizona, is a dog-friendly state park with one of the best vistas of the Colorado River along the Parker strip, an 18-mile length between Parker Dam and Headgate Dam. On both the Arizona and California banks of the river, mountains flank the river, and the wildlife is as diverse as the recreational opportunities. Dogs must be kept on a leash at all times and are free to roam the campgrounds.

The Boyce Thompson Arboretum and Botanical Garden, located in Superior, Arizona, is a dog-friendly arboretum and botanical garden. Dogs must be kept on a leash, under control, and picked up after. Water dishes may be found throughout the gardens, and dogs appear to enjoy the arboretum as much as their owners.

Dogs are welcome at Born To Be Wild Adventures Tours & Rentals! Leashed dogs are welcome to accompany their owners on a kayak ride around their favorite lake. Dog owners should consider how their dog may react to kayaking, according to Born To Be Wild. They may not want to book if they believe their dog will be nervous, will not listen, or will leap out frequently. The Tour organization also suggests bringing a dog life jacket because the water can be dangerous, and owners will want to be able to immediately catch their pet. MYE Jeep is a dog-friendly vehicle! Dogs are welcome inside the rental agency and on self-guided excursions of the Sedona desert in 4-door Wrangler Unlimited Jeeps. MYE Jeep is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. There is a $50 cleaning fee if you bring your dog with you.

The Kiwanis Recreation Center in Tempe, Arizona, features over 54,000 square feet of recreational space for fitness enthusiasts to enjoy. Humans can use the fitness center, wave pool, gymnasium, basketball and tennis courts, and batting range, but dogs are only permitted in the outside park. Outside, you and Petzooie can take a stroll through the park or have a picnic under the shade of one of the ramadas. Always keep your dog on a leash.
