Pets are welcome on the New River Trail. The trail is 13.5 miles long and can be used for a variety of purposes. Dogs are allowed on the trail if they are leashed and clean up after themselves. The trail travels alongside the New River, which is frequently dry. The Skunk Creek Trail allows users to continue their trek.

Parkridge Park Dog Park in Peoria allows dogs and their owners to play in two small sections, one for tiny dogs and the other for large dogs. If you have a shaggy or longer-haired dog, keep in mind that this park has a lot of dry grass. Parkridge Park Dog Park is open from 6:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. every day of the week.

Rio Vista Park welcomes pets. This 52-acre community park provides residents with a diverse range of activities and amenities. The Rio Vista Recreation Center, various sporting fields, a playground, and a splash pad are all located here. Peoria's Veterans Memorial Wall is also located in the park. Dogs on leashes are allowed in the park as long as their waste is cleaned up after them. Rio Vista Park is open from 6:00 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. every day of the week.

Within Pioneer Community Park, there is a large three-section dog park. Pioneer Community Park in Peoria is an 83-acre park near the southeast corner of 83rd Avenue and Olive Avenue. Baseball and multi-purpose fields, a dog park, and a 5-acre urban lake stocked with fish are among the park's many amenities for Peoria residents and their families. The park also features a massive public art project by Thomas Sayre called "Forge," which can be seen from 83rd Avenue.
