Since 1891, the private, nonprofit Ulster County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals has provided services to the county that bears its name. Our goal is to prevent cruelty to animals by giving homeless, abused, and neglected animals temporary shelter, finding them adoptive homes, conducting cruelty investigations, resolving the homeless animal crisis by offering low-cost spay/neuter services for cats and dogs and by sterilizing all animals up for adoption, offering humane education, and working to improve laws that prohibit animal cruelty.

A 501c3 non-profit organization called Mountain Haven Animal Rescue and Support Services, Inc. is committed to giving animals in need and at risk a new lease on life.

Animals for Adoption, a model shelter that has received high accolades, recently underwent some alterations. Rewriting the laws of sheltering is the focus of our topic, "Dogs and People Working Together."

One of the nation's first SPCAs, Dutchess County SPCA was established in 1871. It is a no-kill facility and the only animal welfare group with a charter to uphold humane laws in Dutchess County.

A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Hudson Valley Animal Rescue & Sanctuary (HVARS) is situated in the state of New York. We provide animal rescue, farm animal care, and wildlife rehabilitation services.
