Animal Shelters

The Animal Adoption Center of Blount County is here to help the county with its needs for reducing the number of stray, unwanted, and abandoned animals. Our mission is to pair animals with loving homes, primarily but not exclusively dogs and cats. To stop overpopulation, we advocate for the spaying and neutering of companion animals. We also work to inform county residents about how to properly care for their pets. Any Blount County person who has an animal is welcome to bring it to the shelter.

Lee County Humane Society was established in 1974 to address the expanding issue of stray animals in our neighborhood. Animals were taken into the homes of a group of dedicated and kind volunteers who tried to find them permanent homes while fostering and loving them. In 1976, LCHS purchased land along Highway 280, where the shelter now resides. The community-run, volunteer-run organization was able to hire staff and eventually start expanding the facilities thanks to donations and volunteer work.

The Cherokee Humane Society is a supporter of helping puppies and kittens, dogs and cats find homes, and assisting in the recovery of lost animals.

The Humane Society of Chilton County is a 501(c)(3) independent non-profit organization with an elected board of directors. The Humane Society of Chilton County (hereafter, "HSCC"operating )'s hours are created to guarantee that all animals are adequately and compassionately cared for and that the general public has enough time and opportunity to transact business there.

In order to check for rabies and report obnoxious wildlife, Cullman County Animal Control collaborates with The State of Alabama Wildlife. Animal Control in Cullman County does not set or lend out wildlife traps.

2018 saw a collaboration between the Greater Birmingham Humane Society and the Jasper Animal Care & Control Shelter.

Mayor O'Mary acknowledged their accomplishments in a press release from 2020, saying, "As of today we are lucky to be the only non-Birmingham shelter that the Greater Birmingham Humane Society operates. The partnership has been a win-win situation." The Mayor continued, "I am now very proud of our animal care, our shelter, and the people that are working to take care of the animals."

The Clarke County Animal Shelter encourages adoptions based on dialogue. Since no two animals are the same, each has its own set of adoption criteria. After completing a brief adoption application and attending an adoption counseling session, you meet your matches.

Federal recognition for Willow Farms as a 501-C-3 nonprofit organization. Tax deductions apply to all gifts.

We are based in Loxley, Alabama, and Mrs. Janet Hein is our director. We have volunteers who come out to help with everything from feeding to working with the horses to playing with the dogs. All of our animals are suited for families and are looking for loving homes!

A no-kill adoption organization is The Baldwin Humane Society, formerly known as BARC. We were the first animal welfare organization in Baldwin County when we were founded in 1979. Through spaying and neutering, education, rescue, and adoption, we hope to reduce the number of abused and abandoned dogs. We rely only on donations as a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization and do not receive any financing from the government. Every year, we save, rehab, and place hundreds of mistreated, neglected, and abandoned pets.

Our goal is to provide the tools, initiatives, and knowledge necessary to create a more compassionate society that appreciates animals, encourages kindness and compassion toward them, supports responsible pet ownership, and strengthens the link between animals and people.
