Dr. Joseph Helfand created the Newington Veterinary Clinic in 1972. Until his retirement in 2001, Dr. Helfand provided medical and surgical care to the dogs of Newington. In 2001, Dr. Lynn Fortin, a Newington native, bought the practice. Her goal was to provide a caring, empathetic atmosphere for neighborhood dogs while also providing the most up-to-date veterinary care and surgery procedures. Her education at the Tufts University School of Veterinary Medicine has prepared her to provide high-quality care in collaboration with local professionals. Newington Veterinary Clinic is a service-oriented, "old-fashioned" practice that treats you and your pet like family. In an era when many clinics are owned by corporations, Dr. Fortin remains the only proprietor, insisting on delivering a more personal veterinarian experience.
