In 1976, Dr. Dioscoro Estacio founded Animal Medical Hospital. Dr. Estacio, the youngest son of rice farmers in the Philippines, brought a strong work ethic to Pasadena, where his veterinary business was known for its expertise and versatility. Doctors and staff forewent frills and margins in favor of a comprehensive treatment menu that included everything from routine immunizations and rescues to the most difficult surgical procedures. Dr. Estacio had an understated gravitas — a demeanor of confidence, belief, and action that went beyond his few words. For 37 years, this endeared him to his 'patients' and their owners. Throughout his marriage, the raising of five children, and the coming of six grandchildren, he continued to practice. He died in July of 2013 at the age of 71.
