Dr. Max Graehl founded Beach City Animal Hospital in the 1960s and subsequently sold it to his associate and Huntington Beach favorite, Dr. Donald Tyler, in the 1980s. Dr. Tyler, following in the footsteps of Dr. Graehl, passed over the reins to his associate and friend, Dr. Robert Beshai, in 2011.
