Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization working to establish a countrywide network of trails from former rail lines and linking corridors, supports the Mill Valley-Sausalito Path, which is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by the group. This "rail-trail," which was once an abandoned railroad line, is now an excellent spot to walk Petzooie. Mill Valley, to be exact! A parking lot with easy access to the Mill Valley-Sausalito Path is shown on the map below.

Petzooie can run off-leash in Bayfront Park Mill Valley Dog Park, which is a non-fenced area within Bayfront Park in Mill Valley, CA. There are benches, picnic tables, and a big grassy space in the park.

Leashed dogs are accepted on paved roads, parking lots, campgrounds, and picnic areas in Mount Tamalpais State Park. Only dogs are permitted in these places. Deep gorges, sweeping slopes, cool redwood forests, oak woodlands, and open grasslands make up the State Park. Petzooie must sleep in a tent or a truck at night. From 7 a.m. to sunset, Mount Tamalpais State Park is open. There is no entrance fee; however, many trailhead parking fees are only payable in cash.

The 1.3 acres of safe, enclosed space, chairs, lights, doggy water fountain, picnic tables, benches, and waste stations at this Saulsalito off-leash park receive two paws up.

Previously a disused railroad line, this "rail-trail" near Belvedere Tiburon is now an excellent spot to walk Petzooie! The Larkspur Path (Corte Madera-Larkspur Path) is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by the Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization dedicated to building a nationwide network of trails from abandoned rail lines and connecting corridors.
