The Town of Thompson's Field purchased 57 acres in 1984, which is now known as the Thompson's Field Conservation Area. Groundwater running toward the adjacent public wellfield was mostly protected by the mosaic of woodlands and farmland.

Welcome to Groton's trail system, which you are invited to explore. Groton includes more than ten square miles of conserved property and more than a hundred miles of maintained paths. Lakes, eskers, oxbows, drumlins, kettle holes, rivers, streams, vernal pools, fields, hills, working farms, swimming holes, a historic barn, beaver dams, kinetic art, bike trails, and, of course, wildlife can all be found here.

The colonization and economic expansion of the communities in the Green River's watershed were influenced by the Green River. The Green River gave its name to Greenfield, Massachusetts, where the river ends.

76. Housatonic Flats Reserve

More than a half-mile of Housatonic riverside may be seen from the 0.9-mile-long loop trail that winds through Housatonic Flats' 26 acres. The floodplain is currently returning to the state it was in before people cleared it for pasture. Birds, fish, otter, beaver, and deer are among the attractions.
