Thompson's Field Conservation Area

Hiking, relaxing, and animal viewing opportunities in a natural setting with trees and ponds.

Much of this land is thought to have been purchased from the Saquatucket Native Americans in 1668 by pioneer John Bell. The land passed through several owners before being purchased by the town over 300 years later to safeguard the Herring River, West Reservoir, and surrounding woodlands.

The Harwich Recreation and Youth Department's facilities and programs are open to all Harwich residents, both adults and children.

Hiking trails, a 1912 sandstone observation tower, and seats may be found in this 117-acre woodland park.

Welcome to Groton's trail system, which you are invited to explore. Groton includes more than ten square miles of conserved property and more than a hundred miles of maintained paths. Lakes, eskers, oxbows, drumlins, kettle holes, rivers, streams, vernal pools, fields, hills, working farms, swimming holes, a historic barn, beaver dams, kinetic art, bike trails, and, of course, wildlife can all be found here.

A late-19th-century English-style stone castle and walking trails may be found in this lakeside public park.
