Rails-to-Trails Conservancy, a nonprofit organization working to establish a nationwide network of trails from former rail lines and linking corridors, supports the Old Railroad Grade Trail, which is one of 1600 rail-trails supported by the group. This "rail-trail," which was once an abandoned railroad line, is now a terrific spot to walk Petzooie in Mill Valley! A parking spot with easy access to the Old Railroad Grade Trail is shown on the map below.

Mount Tamalpais State Park

Leashed dogs are accepted on paved roads, parking lots, campgrounds, and picnic areas in Mount Tamalpais State Park. Only dogs are permitted in these places. Deep gorges, sweeping slopes, cool redwood forests, oak woodlands, and open grasslands make up the State Park. Petzooie must sleep in a tent or a truck at night. From 7 a.m. to sunset, Mount Tamalpais State Park is open. There is no entrance fee; however, many trailhead parking fees are only payable in cash.
