Hawaii Animal Rescue Foundation (HARF)

The purpose of the Maui Humane Society is to rescue the lives of animals on Maui, to accept anyone who is in need, to educate the public, and to promote respect for and compassion for all living things.

We were simply a handful of cat lovers who were dedicated to doing the right thing on a remote island without a shelter, rescue organization, or doctor. Leading these initiatives was the vivacious cat lover and founder of The Sanctuary, Kathy Carroll (pictured), who had relocated to the island with her artist husband Mike. In the beginning, her activism and innovation propelled the organization.

In addition to rescuing and fostering these animals, we also provide food, medical attention, and safe sheltering for them until they can be placed permanently in loving and responsible homes. Some animals may pass away at the Sanctuary, in foster homes, or by being given back to their human companions.

The Hawaiian Humane Society is committed to advancing the relationship between people and animals and the humane treatment of all animals.

Kona Foster Felines is a non-profit organization that has been rescuing stray cats and kittens and finding them homes in Kailua Kona, Hawaii since 2006.

Joey's Feline Friends (JFF), a non-profit, no-kill shelter and rescue group devoted to the care of neglected, abused, and physically challenged cats and kittens on the island of O'ahu, was established by Tedra Villaroz in 1998.
