On the western edge of Marshall, Virginia, the non-profit Middleburg Humane Foundation runs a farm shelter on a 23-acre property. We offer huge and tiny animals in danger a safe haven. 783 animals—cats, dogs, horses, livestock, pocket pets, and reptiles—arrived at our shelter in 2021.

The Madison-Greene Humane Society is the only organization in charge of deciding what happens to homeless and abandoned cats in Greene County. We accept 300 cats on average each year, whether they are turned in as surrenders or are discovered abandoned. We also help the neighboring counties in Central Virginia by providing affordable rabies and spay/neuter services.

A private charity 501(c)3 animal shelter that practices limited intake and no euthanasia is known as the SPCA Eastern Shore. For homeless and abandoned dogs and cats, we offer accommodations, food, medical attention, and adoption services.

The Animal Care and Adoption Center now offers cats. If they are unable to care for them, Montgomery County citizens may adopt out their cats. Additionally, kittens and wounded cats will be brought to the center for care and placement in new homes.

The Humane Society/SPCA of Nelson County (HS/SPCA) works to improve animal welfare by caring for and helping people adopt "unwanted" companion animals through our "no-kill" adoption center, foster care networks, satellite adoption venues, and Kitten & Puppy Rescue/Transport Programs; by funding veterinary services and education programs; and by reducing overpopulation through low-cost Spay-Neuter-Vaccinate and Feral Cat Trap/Neuter/Release programs.

Our clinic's goal is to reduce the problem of dog and cat overpopulation by offering targeted, high-volume, low-cost spay and neuter services in the Virginia counties of Buchanan, Dickenson, Lee, Russell, Scott, Smyth, Tazewell, Washington, and Wise, as well as in the cities of Bristol and Norton, as well as Bristol and the County of Sullivan in Tennessee. Although these counties are the clinic's primary emphasis, animals from other counties may also be welcomed depending on availability.
